We briefly mentioned decorating your wedding tables last time, so let’s dive into a little more detail…
Trying to master the art of creating the perfect table can be tricky. This is partly due to the varying definitions and styles that are available whether it be sleek and minimalist to tables loaded down in colour and texture.
Here are a few ways you can make your own table décor really pop…
Use the walls as a backdrop to allow your décor to move to the forefront.
Your venue doesn’t have to be “decorated” to have an impact on your wedding. The emphasis on the open space of a room combined with the cosy wooden tables creates an environment that is equal parts energetic and calm. Using vivid coloured walls can help lighter linens and greenery centrepieces stand out. This is a great technique to use when you have a limited budget, or simply don’t want to purchase a load of extravagant décor pieces.
Keep your place settings interesting with different colours and patterns.
Modern tables aren’t just minimalist masterpieces. If you love colour and pattern, you should layer them to make your décor even more captivating. Don’t be afraid of a little bold colour. Experiment with different exciting combinations within your palette until you find one you like.
Create a warm glow to illuminate your décor.
We love how today’s modern wedding has a definite focus on lighting. Dimmed overhead lighting with bright candles create an inviting glow. Especially when your table features minimal décor, or if you have a white colour scheme, lighting plays a crucial role in your table design. A simple design can look rather stark when there’s not enough light, or when it’s flooded with overly bright lighting.
Use all of the space.
Seriously, all of it. Do you have any open space to contend with? Lift a room instantly by using its empty vertical space, whether you want large floral installations or hanging Edison bulbs, it can be a really effective decorating technique.
Be bold with brights.
Bright, vibrant schemes colour are as equally trendy and up-to-date as neutral tones. Be splashy with your favourite hues in centrepieces, and then accent them with reflective details. Or find a range of colours that you love and use them liberally in your florals, linens, and table stationery.
Try unexpected details for a unified look.
There’s a very thin line between minimalist and plain décor. Avoid the latter by adding in an unexpected detail that ties the whole table together. The best way to do this is through your stationery; the menus and place cards can really tie a design together in a simple yet elegant way.
Above all though, make sure you’re happy with how it looks.
And remember, we’re always here to help out with your stationery, even if you don’t know where to start.
